  Usually the place you want to avoid. I had to go there because I got a ticket for parking in front of my house. Not judging the questinable Santa Cruz parking policy, the lady in the office was very helpful in explaining all the rules and helped me immensely with appealing the decision. Good service.

  A year back I got a job downtown, getting off work, passed the time of running busses. I lived across town and being a young female I felt like I had no other option than to park my car downtown. At this time I was literally broke, $5 a day was unmanageable...it was either eating lunch or parking. I got 3 parking tickets in this time. There was no understanding or negotiation with the office which was understandable, since my lack of money wasn't their problem. For an early morning shift (5am) I put my $5 bill in the machine and left rather quickly as their was a very drugged up homeless person harassing me...apparently the machine didn't except my bill because when I came back to my car on my 10 minute break there was a huge lock in the tire and a sign that said it was going to get towed. I went to the parking office in tears and explained the situation, the only way I was getting my car back is if I paid them $510. No payment plan, no understanding for having to drive to be safe working downtown. No nothing. I had to pull together money from many different friends to even be able to get my car back. This is just ridiculous. Working downtown shouldn't come along with this punishment. And if I have to pay $5 a day then there should be some sort of serurity or something that at least keeps the parking structures safe. They have people riding around ticketing cars from 5a.m. Why not do something beneficial for downtown instead like helping to keep it safe?? WHY CAN PEOPLE SHOOT UP DRUGS IN THE PARKING STRUCTURES, YET TRYING TO WORK DOWNTOWN HAS A HARSHER PUNISHMENT???
